Allez les Blues!

Allez les Blues.. Allez les Blues.. That seemed to be the chant all over the stadium once the game was over and doubts put to rest by the most graceful footballer in the current era.. A finishing touch by the Maestro put spain out of their misery and booked a place for France in the Quarters against Brazil. For Spain, Its a series of continuous misery. They just cant seem to proceed ahead in the Knockout stages and the sadness continues. They had such a good team and good budding stars, but didnt help against a great team with proven winners, though fading.
Even I didnt like the way France was playing in the first round, but they seem to have found their old winning ways once Zidane is back in action. Oh.. What a player.. He is the Grace at large, Mark Waugh of Football and the most lazily elegant football you can find.. and he played like one yesterday. Every touch of his almost created an opportunity for a goal. Spain had many but they wasted their chances. One thing that would bother me was the way Henry faked to get the Freekick which resulted in the winning goal for France. Poor Carlos Puyol.. he had to get a card for nothing and France got through... I didnt expect Henry to do this... but in the end France won..

Well what now.. France meets Brazil.. Another classic encounter with both teams finiding their magical tough.. replay of 1998 finals... Brazil would like to avenge their defeat 8 years ago which robbed them of 3 consecutive WCs and France would like to give Zidane the best possible retirement gift.. and I am still supporting Brazil.. Too bad for France.. Wish they met Brazil in the Finals.. So the World cup gets more exciting .. Ger Vs Arg, Bra Vs Fra Eng Vs Por .. what a classic encounters all of these... VIV LA BRAZIL....

Dude you need to shut up either about Brazil or France. Preferably Brazil. Or better still, both.

I don't like either of those teams. For one France wins by flukes. I haven't seen the Spain match, but I'm sure luck was on France's side.

And, I'm hoping Germany will put Brazil in its place. Geez enough with the world cup championships.

And, as for you, it is so easy to be a an of Brazil. Tomorrow if Iran wins a world cup, you'd be a big fan of them too, I'm sure.

haha.. I am a big fan of those who play better football and since my country doesnt play at this level I can easily switch my allegiance to whomever i want..
As to being Brazil fan, I ve been a fan since 94 and this breed of players are the probly the best of this generation and they play some amazing football.. Its like this.. I would like to watch Mark waugh anytime than watching Steve Waugh even though I like them both..
As to France, i didnt expect them to get to this stage. I was surprised, but happy bcos I am more a fan of Zidane and Henry than actually the french team itself.. So I would still be supporting Brazil but would like to watch Zidane perfrom well, since this would probly be his last competetive season.
So my friend, if you want Germany to win.. so be it.. I would like to see Brazil to beat them in Finals.. :) .. Actually this German team is very different from the past machine football.. they are actually playing attractive football, which I like a lot.. But Brazil rooless.. I am still waiting for Rnaldhinho to score a beauty!!! VIV LA BRAZIL!!!

Allez les Blues..allez les Blues! France had a nice game yday. Don't shut up abt ur comments on Brazil or France :). After watching yday's match, I wudn't want to dismiss France away (like I did for the ESP vs FRA match). The french have their odd ways of winning (again!). I am ready for a twist in the football tale now :)

@PPL: Luis Medina Cantalejo, who awarded Italy a debatable but match-deciding spot-kick for a Lucas Neill challenge, will control the 1998 final replay between Brazil and France in Sunday's (AEST) quarter-final. Hope this hopeless guy doesnt F*** up again with Brazil and France game... That would be too good a game to marred by such unwanted Bad Ref. Decisions. God save this game from the ref... and Queen's team from a talented Portugal team.. Its time English team woke up and started living up their reputation.

There is no way a ref can fuck up the Brazil-France game. Brazil will force feed France some well-deserved humiliation.

@Amrutha: I ve no doubts whom you will be supporting with all the french connections :) .. but I know I will be partying Sat. night wearing my Yellow and Green.. But I expect a very tough fight...

@SUMMIT: Though I am brazil fan myself, I am not too sure if Brazil will force feed any humiliation and I dont think Brazilians themselves are at their top of their game yet.. But they are getting better by the game and I hope their best comes in the finals.. and I dont think this 'Re-energized by Zidane's Return' French team will allow themselves to be humiliated just like that... Zidane can make wonders and I just hope Brazil midfield shut him out and Henry too... I am not too sure of the Brazilian defense either.. They are awful to say the least except for the savior goalkeeper Dida..

@Dreamgirl: You know you should use that as a handle.. whats the use of having a celebrity name like Hemamalini and not calling yourself everyman's dreamgirl??:-p)
seri. seri.. tension agathe.. jus kiddin. :-p)...
Reg.Football, I think the entire world, except maybe the US of A, is gripping with the football fever... For the US of A, they still have the world series and world championship of their version of Football which they are happy about. Its amazing how they still dont acknowledge that FIFA worldcup finals is the most televised and watched event in this planet and not the superbowl. But I find it strange that you call it amusing?? Why is it so amusing? Is it the football fever or the passion of the fans involved with it.

No qualms in admitting and revelling in the fact that the French Le Bleus outclassed the boys in Gold and Blue today. The dream that was Ronaldinho remained unrealized, and Ronaldo was the man of the day ... not for Brazil though, for Portugal.

Good riddance of the cocky Brazilians. French have heartened me again with their tenacity and quiet determination. Great all european set up for the semis. It is anyone's cup right now. Although, Germany seems very good. Portugal have killed 2 giants in their wake, and are training their eyes on another one. This may just be their year.

Looks like we're in a for a treat any which way.

Kabo, you are excused from your pesky behavior. ;)

@Summit: Very sad for a brazilian fan that they didnt make it... But French played very good football inspired the Magical Zidane.. It was great to see him make his fantastic moves and create ooportunities, but couldnt bear that brazilians didnt live up their expectations and reputations.. they just didnt play their natural game. Seemd like Ghosts of France-98 is still haunting them..
For France its an easy way to finals now.. I wouldnt give so much of hope to thje Portugals esp. with Zidane, Viera and Henry in such a great form.. Looks like these guys are just out to Prove something and give the french people one last WC victory before they hang their boots.. They will eat portugal for their breakfast.. It will be a repeat of Euro-2000 semis.. and then they met Italy in the finals.. Could be the same this time too.. Italy may just beat the Germans.. With a dull and boring attack and solid defense, Italians might just pull it off.. Its hard to say which way that match will go even in Penalty cos both have good GKs.
Brazil will still start favourites next world cup and Ronaldhino will be next WC's Zidane.. and no more fatass Ronaldo...
Guess I wouldnt mind supporting France for the rest of the games just for the sake of Zidane and Henry..

Did you know that France also has the only player of Indian descent to play in the WC in the recent history? He actually was subbed in one of the league games. His name is Vikash Dhorasoo.
